Wow! Momo Emerges as India's Leading QSR Brand with a Valuation of ₹1,225 Crores

In a remarkable journey from a humble college venture to a culinary powerhouse, Wow! Momo, the Kolkata-based chain of fast-food restaurants, has become India's most valued homegrown Quick Service Restaurant (QSR) brand. Founded in 2008 by St. Xavier's College alumni Sagar Daryani and Binod Homagai, the brand specializes in momos, momo-filled burgers (MoBurgs), and momo-based desserts.
As of December 2021, Wow! Momo boasts around 425 outlets across 19 cities in India. The company operates under three brands: Wow! Momo, Wow! China, and Wow! Chicken, the latter introduced in December 2021. The company, with a valuation of ₹1,225 crores in 2021, aims for a global footprint, eyeing competition with industry giants like Domino's and McDonald's.
Having raised significant investment in a Series D round in 2022 at a valuation of $270 million, Wow! Momo's valuation witnessed a remarkable 60% growth in just a year. The founders, starting with a mere ₹30,000, have navigated Wow! Momo to its current standing, opting for company-operated outlets with no immediate franchise plans.
Wow! Momo's history, rooted in entrepreneurial spirit and resilience, showcases a journey from a 6' by 6' kiosk to a culinary empire. Strategic partnerships, investments, and a dynamic approach to market trends have propelled Wow! Momo to its current status as a frontrunner in India's QSR landscape.
